STAY IN SCHOOL TOUR

Student Study
Hosted by the Riverside Regional Jail
Employee Association
Each year, the Riverside Regional Jail Employee Association (RRJEA) arranges a “Stay in School Tour” for youth grades three through twelve.

The purpose of the tour is to encourage youth to stay in school and avoid engaging in risky behaviors that could result in detention or even incarceration. The event provides educational and practical simulations to increase children's knowledge and awareness of the consequences of making unhealthy decisions. It is not intended to be a “Scared Straight Program”.

The tour will give attendees an opportunity to visit various departments in the jail, including Special Management Units, Therapeutic Community and Intake areas. The youth will have an informative session with RRJ staff, inmates and community leaders.   After the session, the youth will be engaged in a practical simulation inside a jail cell for no more than five minutes, with parental approval.

The registration for the event starts in mid July. As a parent/guardian, you may apply online or mail/fax in the tour application to RRJEA after the begining of registration.
