The Riverside Regional Jail Employee Association (RRJEA) arranges a Stay in School Tour each year for local youth, grades three through twelve. The purpose of the tour is to encourage youth to stay in school and avoid engaging in risky behaviors that could result in detention or even incarceration. The yearly event provides educational and practical simulations to increase children's knowledge and awareness of the consequences of making unhealthy decisions. It is not intended to be a "Scared Straight" program.

The tour provides attendees with an opportunity to visit various departments within the facility, including Special Management units, the Therapeutic Community, and Booking and Intake areas. The youth will have an informative session with RRJ personnel as well as local community leaders. Afterward, the youth will be engaged in a practical simulation inside of an actual jail cell for no more than 5 minutes with parental pre-approval.

Registration information for this event will be posted in June for parents/guardians to submit by mail or online.
