west of interstate 295, along the banks of the Appomattox River.

From Interstate 95:
Take Exit 54 (Temple Ave) and turn right at the traffic signal onto Temple Ave (VA-144S). Continue on Temple Ave (VA-144S) for approximately 3 miles(5 traffic signals) and turn left onto River Rd (VA-645). Travel approximately 3 miles on River Rd (VA-645) and after passing the Petersburg Federal Correctional Complex (FCC), turn left at the Riverside Regional Jail sign. Proceed approximately .5 and turn left at the first entrance into the appropriate Visitor parking area.
From Interstate 295:Take Exit 9B onto Oaklawn Blvd (VA-36W). Bear right onto Temple Ave (VA-144N). Turn right onto River Rd (VA-645). Travel approximately 3 miles on River Rd (VA-645) and after passing the Petersburg Federal Correctional Complex (FCC), turn left at the Riverside Regional Jail sign. Proceed approximately .5 and turn left at the first entrance into the appropriate Visitor parking area.
From Route 36 (VA-36):Turn onto Temple Ave (VA-144N). Turn right onto River Rd (VA-645). Travel approximately 3 miles on River Rd (VA-645) and after passing the Petersburg Federal Correctional Complex (FCC), turn left at the Riverside Regional Jail sign. Proceed approximately .5 and turn left at the first entrance into the appropriate Visitor parking area.
From Route 10 (VA-10):Turn onto E Broadway Ave headed West. East Broadway Ave changes to West Broadway Ave (.2 miles). Turn left at N Mesa Dr. Travel .4 miles and turn right onto River Rd (VA-645). Travel approximately 2 miles on River Rd (VA-645) and turn right at the Riverside Regional Jail sign. Proceed approximately .5 and turn left at the first entrance into the appropriate Visitor parking area.
